Telangana handlooms and textiles minister K.T. Rama Rao said that the Centre has responded positively to his proposal for 10 handloom clusters in the state. The new clusters will come up in Khammam, Mahbubnagar and districts, he said after meeting Union textiles minister Smriti Irani in New Delhi on Tuesday.

Mr Rao told the media that, “The Centre has responded positively for setting up 10 handloom clusters in the state and upgrading power looms. Khammam and Mahboobnagar districts will also get benefited from the clusters. We’re upgrading 8,000 power looms, for which we have asked the minister to release the pending dues. This will benefit power loom owners in Sircilla and Nalgonda.”
