The works at Durgam Cheruvu are going very fastly. After little behind the shedule the cable bridge works moving forward. After falling a little behind the schedule, the cable bridge works at Durgam Cheruvu have now picked up steam and efforts are on to complete the project by March 2019.

Municipal Administration and Urban Development Minister KT Rama Rao had laid the foundation stone for the works on April 26 last year with a plan to complete it by December 2018. However, amid delays, the schedule has now been revised with the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) which is trying to complete it by March next year.

Initially, there were issues in shifting the material and machinery from the precast unit at Kondapur to a worksite in Madhapur due to narrow roads and a few other issues related to logistics. The GHMC officials however said that the teething troubles of the project have been sorted out and works are on at a brisk pace.

Nearly 130 segments are to be used in the construction of the bridge. Of these, about 70 segments are being developed at the precast yard in Kondapur. “The rest, especially those used for the middle portion of the bridge, are being developed at the worksite itself,” he informed.
