Hyderabad: Assistant Professor of Forensic Medicine, Kakatiya Medical College, Warangal, Dr. Raza Mallik was suspended on Wednesday.

Following instructions from Health Minister, Dr. C. Laxma Reddy, the Director of Medical Education (DME), Dr. K Ramesh Reddy issued orders suspending the Assistant Professor.
In a press release, the DME said that Dr. Raza Mallik was suspended for delaying a post-mortem and despite instructions from the Health Minister on March 11, the post-mortem was not carried out by Dr. Mallik.

On Wednesday, this issue was raised in the Legislative Council in which it was alleged that the senior Forensic Medicine expert had demanded Rs 3,000 to conduct the post-mortem.
Dr. Ramesh Reddy said that any health care professional demanding money from attendants of deceased patients will be dealt with seriously and they will not be spared.

“The staff in all the State-run hospitals has been warned not to demand money from patients near operation theatres, maternity wards and intensive wards. This practice is tarnishing the image of the government hospitals, despite the efforts of our Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao and Health Minister Dr. Laxma Reddy to improve health care in the State,” Dr. Ramesh Reddy said.
