Collector of Asifabad flags off pre-screen test for tribal students

Kumram Bheem Asifabad: Collector Prashant Jeevan Patil and Superintendent of Police Kalmeshwar Shingenawar flagged off a pre-screen test aimed at helping tribal students secure admissions in sports schools in Asifabad town on Wednesday. Hundreds of students aged between 7 and 9 years from various parts of the town and surrounding villages took part in the test and expressed happiness over being given the opportunity.

Patil hoped that the initiative would help the backward Kumram Bheem Asifabad district to produce promising sportsmen, adding that sports offer a great career. He hoped that parents would come forward to admit their children in sports schools. He assured the Police Department of all support in conducting the pre-screening test.

Kalmeshwar informed that the children from rural pockets would easily be able to get admissions in sports schools with the help of the screening tests. Those shortlisted would be provided accommodation and coaching in their favourite sport and education up till degree at the institutions run by Telangana Sports Authority would be free of cost.

The IPS officer stated that similar tests would be held in all mandal headquarters soon for the convenience of the interested students. The selected students would be trained in nine different aspects during a residential camp this summer. They will participate in selections that will be held for admissions into sports schools in Karimnagar, Hakeempet and Adilabad in June.

Screening tests were held on topics including sprinting, long jump and high jump, vertical jump, standing broad jump, flexibility.
