Hyderabad: Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao on Thursday announced the formation of a new corporation named, ‘Telangana Rashtra Rythu Samanvaya Samiti’ (Telangana State Farmers’ Co-ordination Committee). He said the proposed corporation would  take the measures initiated by the government for agriculture development and farmers’ welfare at the grass roots level.

He made it clear the proposed corporation will be a non-profit organisation and the funds allocated for it will be used for achieving the aims and objectives of the corporation. Mr Rao said, like the village and mandal farmers’ coordination committees, the district and state-level committees too will be formed soon.

The CM held a review meeting at Pragati Bhavan. He said the coordination committees will have their specified duties and responsibilities and will play an active role in the agricultural operations, from sowing the seed to selling the produce at MSP. He said at least 51 per cent of these committees would be formed  by farmers from the weaker sections and women.

He said 2,630 “Farmers’ Daises” will be constructed across the st-ate, which will mean one for every 5,000 acres — for the farmers to organise their meetings, discussions and exchange of views with one another. The CM asked officials to complete the construction of these ‘daises’ soon. He wanted the farmers’ coordination committees to take this responsibility. The CM asked the Collectors concerned to identify lands for the purpose. He wanted them to procure lands either from the government, through donors or by purchasing the lands.
